Okay, so lately I’ve been watching a lot of The Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic Channel. Cesar Millan is big on rollerblading with his dogs to help them get their daily exercise. I love this guy and decided I want to rollerblade with my dog just like he does. Can you guess what I’m about to tell you next?
I had these REALLY OLD rollerblades in my garage. I cleared off the spider webs and other gross stuff and took them for a spin. Um, don’t go down a hill if it has been 10+ years since you’ve been on skates. I ended up on my ass in my front yard. Did I mention I wasn’t wearing pads OR a helmet? Yep, I’m a smart one alright.
Since my very ungraceful and painful fall, I’ve been researching rollerblades. I’ve discovered you need a good pair, with smaller wheels (these are not as fast) and a good set of pads and of course…a helmet to protect the old noggin. I picked the Athena K2 skates after quite a lot of research. They are comfortable, fit like a tennis shoe and give a smooth ride. I’d also recommend the pad set. I can tell you from experience, you will be happy to have them!
By the way, I have taken my dog out on rollerblades to our local school parking lot. It was a blast! And there were no hills! My dog loved going fast and I loved not falling. Success for all!
